Men Are More Open With Their Social Media Profiles Than Women

Only 48% of men restrict their sharing to friends only, compared to 67% for women.

According to Pew Research, women are far more private in their online lives. Men are much more likely to share their information with the public whereas women for some reason or another feel that they should hide more.

One reason could be fear. Men may not care if people can view their personal or contact information because there is little that worries them. Women see kidnaps and rapes and murders on the news and are more prone to remain private.

Alternatively, women could be more likely to live different lives around different people while men remain more consistent. Managing multiple reputations requires additional filtering tactics.
