An increase in access to mobile phones can greatly improve a nation’s economy.

As the less developed countries begin to gain access to more technology, their opportunities and effectiveness rise drastically. A 10% boost in mobile penetration yields a 1.2% increase in GDP growth. That is huge!

This infographic from USAID explains some of the many benefits to countries as they embrace mobile technology. The new technology gives them access to information they would otherwise not have had and empowers them to learn and innovate. How many health problems infecting areas with little access to medical treatment could be prevented or cured by a phone call?
