The trailer is out for the new Batman movie, set to release July 20. This is looking to be the blockbuster movie of the year, and will definitely be one I will be seeing even though I don’t make it to the theater too often.
The Batman films have brought in some serious revenue over the years, starting with the original Batman back in 1966. The franchise has since exploded leading up to 2008 when The Dark Knight brought in over a billion dollars worldwide. This table from The Numbers provides the breakdown of Batman films (including some of the lesser known) and indicates that it is very likely the new film being released this summer will cross the billion dollar mark as well.
Mad Atoms created this great table comparing some characteristics of the Batman movies over time. I hadn’t even remember that 1995′s Batman Forever sported a nippled batsuit.
And the newest film in the series, The Dark Knight Rises. Here’s to hoping it will be as good as the last one.
