The employment situation report for the month is out, and it isn’t great. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 80k, still well below what we need to keep up with population growth. The unemployment rate (U-3) remained unchanged at 8.2%, while the real unemployment rate (U-6) ticked up to 14.9%.
Both the labor force participation rate and the employment-population ratio remained unchanged at 63.8 and 53.6, respectively.
