The Census Bureau reports that factory orders in July rose 2.8% from June, and are now up 4.7% from a year ago. Expectations were for a lofty 2.0% gain, so beating that is a very strong increase.

This is the largest month over month gain since July of 2011, and is a much needed boost as 4 of the last 6 months saw reductions in factory orders.
