Following last night’s failed union negotiations, nearly 30,000 Chicago teachers and support staff are on strike. This is the result of 10 months of failed negotiations, and leaves 400,000 students without a place to learn this Monday morning.
The strike here is not insignificant, as Chicago has almost 700 schools and represents the third-largest school district in the country. The teachers strike is the first in Chicago in 25 years.
