The Conference Board reports that consumer confidence in September made a huge jump upwards, now reading 70.3, up from 61.3 in August.

This was buoyed mainly by the expectations index, which stands at 83.7, up a monstrous 12.6 from August’s reading of 71.1. Although lagging, the present situation index rose as well, reading 50.2, 3.7 above last month’s 46.5.

While these confidence figures at not historically strong, they are well above the 2009 lows and the dip in late 2011.
