Do people really know why they’re waiting in line for that hot new product?

We’ve been covering Apple a lot lately, what with the release of that shiny new phone, but it isn’t because of what the new technology is, we focus on Apple because their products have created a culture. That culture includes waiting in line outside with a bunch of other snobs, not because you must have the new product, but because you are there for the experience. Appearing important is equally as righteous as being important.

A great example of this occurred on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, where Sam Roberts interviewed Rachel, someone who, well, wasn’t really quite sure why she was waiting in line.
