ADP employment reported an increase of 162k payrolls in the month of September, lower than last month’s revised figure of 189k.

The ADP has gotten into a habit of overshooting the payroll numbers that the BLS will report in its monthly employment situation report a day or two later. In August, the BLS only counted 96k new payroll jobs, compared to the 201k originally reported by ADP.
