We come to yet another not so respectable moment from NFL fans this week, as Kansas City fans actually booed their own player’s injury.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel took a hard hit during this week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, and was slow to get up. The home town fans didn’t show much care for Cassel though, as there was a wave of applause when the crowd realized their QB was possibly out for the game.

Cheering for a player’s injury is, of course, despicable. There has been a great deal of media coverage lately circling the research that continues to surface indicating NFL football in this day and age is simply not safe for human beings. We are seeing retired players with brain damage, depression, and countless other disorders.
So it’s especially troubling when you see cheers following what appears to have been a concussion, for the home team’s player no less.
Chiefs offensive lineman Eric Winston made a bold speech in a post-game interview, stating that he has never been so embarrassed to be a football player. I don’t have much to add to this, except that it is a very profound rant, and worded exceptionally well. Kudos to him for standing up for the players.
