The Department of Labor reports that jobless claims fell 30k to 339,000 this week, from a revised 369,000 the week prior. This is a tremendous decline, and the lowest weekly claims we have seen since the week ending November 17, 2007.

The jobless claims figures should as always be taken with many grains of salt though, as U.S. government statistics have been especially prone to drastic revisions lately.

The insured unemployment rate was againĀ unchanged at 2.6%.

The number of insured unemployed fell 15k to 3,273,000, down from 3,288,000 last week.
