Last night was the second of three debates in the 2012 U.S. presidential election, where Barack Obama rebounded quite a bit following his weak performance and Mitt Romney’s decisive victory in the first debate.

The highlight of the night, or what should be the highlight of the night anyway, is when the moderator, Candy Crowley, stepped in to actually fact-check the candidates in real-time. She chose to intervene when the two were arguing over the president’s actions following the recent attack in Benghazi.

Regardless of whether or not she was correct, this is a big no-no from someone who was supposed to be a neutral party. If you fact-check some of the issues, it’s only fair that you fact-check all of them. Crowley’s actions reflected positively on Obama, which is a problem, even if Obama was correct in his statements and Romney was wrong.
