The Conference Board reports that in October consumer confidence rose to 72.2, up from 68.4 in September. This is the highest reading since February of 2008.
The present situation index increased to 56.2, from 48.7 in September.
The expectations index also increased, moving to 82.9 from 81.5 in September.
