The Department of Labor reports that initial jobless claims increased to 361k last week, 17k above the prior week’s revised reading of 344k.
The insured unemployment rate was unchanged at 2.5%.
The number of Americans receiving unemployment insurance increased to 3.225m, a small change from the prior week’s revised reading of 3.213m.
