The Energy Information Administration reported today (on Christmas Eve, God bless ‘em) that fuel prices were essentially unchanged from a week ago.
The national price for all formulations of regular gas last week was $3.257 per gallon, almost exactly unchanged from the $3.254 per gallon a week ago. The price is almost exactly unchanged from a year ago as well, as the gallon cost was $3.258 on Christmas Eve of last year.
The national price of diesel fuel was $3.923 per gallon last week, relatively unchanged from the $3.945 per gallon the week prior. Diesel fuel is now up $0.132 from a year ago.
Prices for all formulations of regular fuel remain the highest on the west coast where they averaged $3.427 per gallon last week. Fuel is still cheapest in the gulf coast where prices averaged $3.054 per gallon.
Since 2009, gas prices have tested and declined from the $4.00 mark 3 times.
