June Preliminary Consumer Sentiment Reading Shows Slight Decline

Reuters reports that the June preliminary reading of the University of Michigan’s consumer sentiment index was 82.7. This is a slight decline from May’s final index reading of 84.5, but still one of the highest readings of the last 6 years.

Note that the overall consumer sentiment metric is not necessarily indicative of equal optimism across all income levels.
