Store Sales Settle After July 4 Holiday Week Surge

U.S. store sales slowed in the week ending July 13 after having slightly stronger sales from the July 4 holiday the week prior. A little bit cooler weather was attributed to a slowdown in purchases of seasonal goods, and rising gas prices were also blamed for reducing consumers spending power.

The ICSC-Goldman store sales index is up 2.0% from a year ago (4 week MA) compared to up 2.2% Y/Y a week ago.
