The Printing Press Rolls On: The New $100 Bill

Despite the government shutdown and Treasury’s imminent debt ceiling fiasco, the Federal Reserve is still printing fresh and redesigned $100 bills. These new notes, with added security features, go into circulation today. The video below from Bloomberg highlights some interesting statistics on the bill’s production and use.

The hundred-dollar bill is the most commonly counterfeited note of U.S. currency outside the U.S., but the newly redesigned bill could change all that: it’s jam-packed with anti-counterfeiting features from hidden words to shifting 3-D images.
