Consumer Sentiment Sinks To 73.2

The University of Michigan reports that the final reading of its consumer sentiment index in October was 73.2. This is a decrease from September’s reading of 77.5 and is also lower than the October preliminary reading of 75.2.

This is the third consecutive monthly decline in consumer sentiment. October’s reading surely affected by the U.S. federal government shutdown.
